Bookkeeping for Los Angeles Small Businesses
Pasadena-based bookkeepers serving Los Angeles businesses. Monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and real estate accounting expertise.
Pasadena-Based, Serving LA
Los Angeles has nearly four million people and more small businesses than most states. Construction crews building across the Westside, restaurants and retailers in every neighborhood, real estate investors with portfolios scattered from the Valley to Long Beach. Our office sits in Old Town Pasadena, which puts us closest to the northeast LA communities like Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Atwater Village, and Glassell Park. We work with businesses across the full city.
The work happens remotely regardless of where you are. That’s how we offer bookkeeping services in Pasadena and LA at rates that don’t carry big-firm overhead. Document sharing, cloud accounting, monthly reviews over video. Straightforward and predictable.
Monthly Bookkeeping
Monthly Bookkeeping
Transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliation, monthly close, P&L and balance sheet. Books that close on time every month so you know where the business actually stands.
Real Estate Accounting
Real Estate Accounting
Property management accounting, development project costing, CAM reconciliations, and investor reporting. Dennis spent 20+ years in real estate accounting at Alexandria Real Estate Equities and at an LA-area development firm. This is where our deepest experience lives.
Payroll
Payroll
Full-service payroll with tax deposits, quarterly filings, W-2s and 1099s. California wage rules, local ordinances, and sick leave tracking handled so you’re not sorting out compliance on your own.
Catch-Up Bookkeeping
Catch-Up Bookkeeping
Months or years behind, we sort through the history, reconcile the accounts, and deliver a clean set of records. Then we keep you current so the backlog doesn’t come back.
LA Businesses We Work With
The LA small-business economy is too broad to summarize in a sentence. What we can say is where we’re most useful. Contractors and trades working across the basin. Property operators and real estate investors with rentals, flips, and syndications. Service businesses and professional practices that have outgrown doing the books themselves.
Our clients typically do $250k to a few million in annual revenue. Past the stage where a spreadsheet works, not yet at the point where a full-time controller makes sense. We’re built for that gap.
Construction and Contractors
Construction and Contractors
General contractors, remodelers, and commercial builders working across the city. We handle job costing, progress billing, subcontractor payments, and retention tracking. LA’s construction market runs on accurate project-level numbers, and that’s the work.
Real Estate Investors and Operators
Real Estate Investors and Operators
Rental property owners, fix-and-flip operators, commercial investors, and small syndications. Entity-level books across multiple properties, depreciation schedules, and the investor reporting that keeps partners informed. Dennis’s entire corporate career was in real estate accounting.
Skilled Trades
Skilled Trades
Electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors, welders. Residential service work and commercial subcontracting. We track vehicle and equipment costs, job profitability, and the payroll compliance that California trades deal with.
Service and Professional Businesses
Service and Professional Businesses
Agencies, consultants, studios, and small practices across LA. Clean books, accurate expense tracking, and financials that actually tell you what you’re keeping after payroll and overhead.
Common Questions
Where are you located and how do you serve LA?
Our office is in Old Town Pasadena, just east of the city. We work with businesses throughout LA remotely, with the shortest drive into the northeast neighborhoods like Eagle Rock, Highland Park, and Atwater Village. Location rarely matters once the work is set up.
What does monthly bookkeeping cost?
Starting at $199 per month. Pricing is based on transaction volume and the complexity of your business. We quote a flat monthly rate after reviewing what you actually need.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. Clients are welcome at our Pasadena office, and we can come to you in LA when there's a reason to. Most clients find that once things are running, in-person meetings stop being necessary.
Do you have experience with LA real estate businesses?
Yes. Dennis spent most of his career in real estate accounting, including nearly a decade at Alexandria Real Estate Equities, an S&P 500 REIT, and a senior role at an LA-area development firm. Property management, development, job costing, CAM reconciliations, and investor reporting are core to what we do.
What if my books are months or years behind?
Catch-up work is a regular part of what we do. We get the backlog sorted, reconcile the accounts, and deliver a clean set of books. From there we keep things current month to month.
